Mt. Cook, New Zealnd

Mt. Cook

It is located in the Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, in the Canterbury region. The region is famous for its incredibly clear starry nights, sunny days, turquoise blue lakes, valleys of emerald green and snow-capped mountains.

Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealnd. It has beautiful scenery so, many mountain climbers visit Mt. Cook.

Plan : Glacier Explorers → Lake Tekapo →

Hooker Valley Tracking

Glacier Explorers

On first day at Mount Cook, I will see glacier on a boat. Glacier Explorers takes almost 3 hour and it costs 120 dollar per person.

Lake Tekapo

After, I will watch Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo is the largest glacier lake in New Zealand. This lake has turquoise blue color. The amazing color of Lake Tekapo is created by rock flour.

Hooker Valley Tracking

I choose Hooker Valley tracking. It takes almost 4 hour. This is one of the most popular walks in the park. The track passes close to the Alpine Memorial which is a great view point. The track ends at the glacier lake were there are amazing views of Aoraki Mount Cook.
